Research Paper
I just got done with my first instructions class. Quite interesting actually. I have been assigned to write a research paper on a topic of my choice. As of now I am thinking about writing something on famine in Africa. To narrow the topic I will focus on maybe a particular region in Africa and discuss the reasons why poverty may exist in that region. To further the discussion I will talk about the efforts being made to help those that are living under those conditions.
Feel free to give me any suggestions on how I can elaborate on my topic.
Peace.

Hi Saba:
I am going to attach a research strategy worksheet that you can use in helping you think about what direction you want to go in with your topic. The first page has an example, and the second page is blank for you to design a search strategy. If you need further explanation, contact me via e-mail before June 23rd or July 6th, when I return from conferencing & vacation..
Print out the Research Strategy Worksheet from this link:

Hello Brownie,
I am not sure how long the research paper is? How many sources you will need. If you have narrowed your project to a specific geographical area? We can discuss this in greater detail later but just off the top of my head, this BBC article has good topic ideas:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/in_depth/africa/2006/africa_food_crisis/default.stm
There are 246 Full Text articles available on Academic search premier located on ND's electronic Resources under "Finding Articles by subject" and using "African-American" as the subject: http://www.library.nd.edu/find_articles/african_american_studies
The first article retrieved was:
On the Edge of Famine.By: Alford, Deann. Christianity Today, PUBLISHED THIS MONTH (June 2006). So perhaps if you scan the current articles you can get an idea of how to narrow your research project.
I am sure you will do exceedingly well. Felicia
